It has been a while since I added to my blog, so it is well past time for an update.  On this day I reached my 90 day mark at the camp.  Monday will mark exactly 25% of the sentence being complete.  I’ve been spending a good bit of time working on a plan on how I will get back into the work force once I am released.  I have mapped out many of the first steps I will take when I am able.  At the right time down the road I’ll post an update and give you more details.

I’ve been in a good routine for the past several months.  During the week I continue to work in my job in facilities.  Sometimes doing minor repair work, others doing clerk work in the landscape equipment room.  I also walk a minimum of a mile a day, sometimes as much as 5 miles, probably averaging around 3 or so.  I’ve been exercising with pushups and curls as well and I’ve made good progress.  I also do a lot of reading.  I don’t typically read biographical books, but I’ve been reading about Teddy Roosevelt and learned quite a bit about him and our history.

In one of my entries just before reporting here, I outlined three major goals for my first 90 days here.  I’m happy to report that I have completed two of the three and made great progress on the third.  My first goal was to lose 15 pounds in the first 3 month.  I succeeded and as of Friday I dropped 18.5 pounds.  I also wanted to be able to do 50 standard push-ups without stopping, but I fell short here.  I’ve been doing push-ups at least 4-5 days a week and have made great progress, but I guess I was more out of shape than I realized.  I’ll get there.  The third goal was to blog regularly and prepare a second class for Prison Professors.  I have done that as well.

I am now updating my goals.  My first is to speed up my weight loss.  My new goal is to lose another 18 pounds, but this time in 6 weeks.  I have a few other goals, most revolving around my next career move.  I’ll disclose those to you down the road a bit.

That’s all I have for now.  I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season and a very Merry Christmas!
